The mac version is still on the apple store, as Aspyr owns it. Many of the expansions were never converted due to EA only selling certain rights. The Sims 2 compared to the original was far more forgiving (when compared to Hot Date) and the expanded / boosted content made the game solid contender against The Sims 3 for the first one or two expansions, along with offering up decent competition to an ever expanding Sims 4.
